Position: Real Estate Accountant

Description of Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

 

  • Perform daily corporate accounting duties 
  • Perform necessary functions to assist in the maintenance of accounts and accounting system     
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, financial statements and other quarterly reports      
  • Ensure proper accounting of general ledger transactions      
  • Research transactions, invoices, accounts and work on various ad hoc projects      
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and bank account reconciliations
  • Perform month-end close duties which include reviewing, uploading and posting all related closing journal entries
  • Manage the billing process including collections when necessary
  • Manage the customer file to ensure all necessary information is obtained and documented for all customers
  • Manage the accounts payable process
  • Manage the vendor file to ensure all necessary information is obtained and documented for all vendors
  • Manage the commission process including reconciliations between the general ledger and sub-ledger.
  • Assist other members of accounting staff with various duties as requested
  • Must be deadline & results oriented with the ability to juggle multiple tasks of various priority.
  • Ensures that systems and procedures are in compliance with company policies, acceptable accounting practices and applicable regulations.
  • Identifies accounting problems, researches possible solutions, and forms conclusions.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the process for continuous improvement and is open and responsive to change.
  • Solid working knowledge of accounting applications in a computerized environment, including personal computer and/or mainframe spreadsheet applications.
  • Must demonstrate experience and proficiency in applying accounting principles/theories and concepts.

 

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

 

  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in accounting
  • 5-7 years experience in accounting
  • CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated team player with strong ability to interact with others
  • Solid communication skills (oral and written)
  • Personable, positive and enthusiastic attitude with capability to deal effectively with people.
  • Sense of initiative with desire to become truly involved in the business.

Compensation: $45k to $55k plus full benefits package

Position: Controller

 

Qualifications and Requirements

 

 

            1.  Degree in Accounting or Finance

            2.  CPA Certificate or near certification.

            3.  Ten years minimum accounting experience in:

                 a.  Financial statement preparation including General Ledger

                 b.  Corporation taxes including federal income, payroll,

                      Texas franchise taxes; multi-state taxation would be helpful

c.    Computer literate on personal computer with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Access, IBM I-Series(AS/400)

d.    Fixed Asset Software management

e.   Accounting systems and software implementation

                 f.   Must have excellent communication skills and work habits

                 g.  Must be well organized and able to handle multiple tasks

h.    Dependable in attendance and with completing tasks & projects assigned

i.  Available for work on weekends when required

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

1. Manage, train and assist accounting and accounts payable personnel. Also assist mangers of payroll and accounts receivable departments.

2.    Responsible for preparation and analysis of monthly internal financial statements and reports. Quarterly and annual DOT financial reporting; other periodic financial, tax and statistical reports as required.

3. Review corporate, State and Federal income, payroll, fuel and employment tax returns including information return reporting for filing. (W-2, 1099's).

4.  Preparation of internal audit working papers including reconciling and analyzing general ledger account balances.

5.   Coordinate annual audit with Accounting Firm.

6.     Backup and Learn other accounting personnel.

7.     Report to company CFO.

8.  Take lead on new system implementation projects as assigned.

 

Compensation: $80k to $100k plus full benefits package
